Wherever I am, wherever I go,
Whenever I need to cope,
Dum spiro spero,
While I breathe, there is hope

//

There will be setbacks,
Some will recognize. Some won’t.
Just keep the faith going.

//

Kuching will be there,
Just keep the flame going, my friend.
We’ll find our way up.

//

Wherever I am, wherever I go,
Whenever I need to cope,
Dum spiro spero,
While I breathe, there is hope

//

Common ground for all,
We’ll forge our identity,
Peace and harmony

//

Fairland Sarawak
Never cease to honour thee
Defend liberty

//

Wherever I am, wherever I go,
Whenever I need to cope,
Dum spiro spero,
While I breathe, there is hope

NOTE: The challenge here was to write an old school nationalistic poem. I am not very nationalistic in the traditional sense, but I do identify a lot with Sarawakian history and culture.
Part of the last verse was cobbled from the Sarawakian anthem, "Fairland Sarawak". "Dum Spiro Spero" on the other hand was the state's motto which means, "while I breathe, there's hope."
